Buyer FAQ

Sourcing Egyptian produce: what importers ask first

The questions that come up in almost every first enquiry. For product-level detail see frozen (IQF) and fresh produce, or work through our buyer's guides.

What does Good Seed supply?
Two ranges. IQF frozen: strawberries, mango, green beans, peas, okra, broccoli and cauliflower — individually quick-frozen at peak ripeness, stored at −18 °C with a 12-month shelf life from production. Fresh: Valencia, Navel and Baladi oranges, mandarin, lemon, pomegranate, grapes, mango, strawberries and red onion, hand-selected and cold-chain shipped. Grade and calibre are packed to your specification, and every lot is traceable back to farm, field and harvest date.
When is each Egyptian line in season?
Citrus runs roughly November to July — Navel and Baladi oranges Dec–Feb, Valencia Jan–May, mandarin and lemon Nov–Apr. Summer and autumn fruit extends the programme across the year: grapes May–Oct, mango Jul–Dec, pomegranate Sep–Dec, fresh strawberries Nov–Jun and red onion Apr–Jul. IQF frozen lines ship year-round. Our harvest calendar sets out every line month by month on one page.
What packing and carton sizes are available?
Oranges and lemon in 15 kg and 8 kg cartons, plus 600 kg bins for juice oranges; mandarin in 6 kg boxes; pomegranate and mango in 5 kg cartons; grapes and fresh strawberries in 500 g punnets, 10 per carton; red onion in 10, 25 and 50 kg bags. Frozen lines ship in 10 kg cartons or to your spec, with custom packs and private label on request. Calibre and count are set by your specification.
What is the minimum order, and do you ship FOB or CIF?
Orders are typically a full 40 ft container, with flexible MOQs so you can start small and scale as trust builds. We quote both FOB and CIF at competitive pricing. Europe is our lead market, and we also serve the Gulf, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Send the product, volume, destination port and Incoterm and we'll confirm the MOQ.
Which certifications and documents come with a shipment?
Good Seed is BRC, ISO and GlobalGAP certified, with lot-level traceability and residue (MRL) screening before shipment. Every container travels with a phytosanitary certificate, a health certificate where the line requires one, and a certificate of origin — issued fast so containers clear customs without demurrage. Certificate copies come with every shipment and on request: see our certifications.
How quickly will I get a quote?
Usually within 24–48 hours. Send your spec — product, grade, volume, destination port and Incoterm — and we come back with samples, certificates and a price, plus the harvest window for that line. Request a quote and samples.
